Brilliantly Brave is an award-winning design-led greeting card brand with a simple purpose: to turn everyday kindness into real support.

We create modern cards shaped by encouragement, humour, honesty and care. But the cards are only part of the story. We reinvest 100% of our profits into mental health training, peer support and wellbeing initiatives in the community.

So when someone sends a Brilliantly Brave card, they are doing more than marking a moment. They are helping to fund support, spark connection and extend the reach of something genuinely useful.

Why we started

Brilliantly Brave began at a kitchen table in Moray with a practical question: how could we create sustainable funding for local mental health support without relying on grants?

Jean had spent nearly three decades working in mental health and had seen too many people fall through the gaps of overstretched services. Stuart brought years of design and brand licensing experience, along with a belief that thoughtful creative work could do more than simply look good.

Together, we saw an opportunity to build something different - a design-led greeting card brand rooted in encouragement, humour, honesty and care, but with a model that could do something practical beyond the product itself.

That became Brilliantly Brave: a business built to turn everyday acts of connection into meaningful local impact, and to reinvest 100% of our profits into training, peer support and wellbeing initiatives in the community.

What makes us different

Brilliantly Brave was built on the belief that good design and practical impact should not sit in separate worlds.

We create modern, design-led greeting cards with real appeal as products in their own right shaped by encouragement, humour, honesty and care, and made to be bought, sent and kept.

But the business was also designed to do something beyond the product. Impact is not an add-on or a campaign theme, it's built into how Brilliantly Brave works.

That is what sits behind every card we make: thoughtful design, commercial credibility and a model that helps support free training, peer support and wellbeing initiatives in the community.

Growing through licensing

Licensing is an important part of how Brilliantly Brave grows beyond cards.

It gives us the opportunity to translate our design-led approach into new product categories through carefully chosen partnerships, extending the reach of the brand while keeping the quality, character and purpose of the business intact.

We are interested in partnerships that feel considered rather than simply expansive. The aim is not to place the brand everywhere, but to work with the right people in the right categories, where the fit is strong and the product adds something meaningful.

That makes licensing more than a growth route. It is a way to build the brand with care, reach new audiences and create more opportunities for Brilliantly Brave to have impact over time.

How Your Purchase Helps

Brilliantly Brave was built to support more than the moment a card is sent. From the start, the aim was to create a business where commercial success could translate directly into practical, local support for mental health and wellbeing in Moray. That link between sales and support is built into how the business works.

That support now reaches far beyond the card itself. In less than two years, the model has helped fund more than 170 Mental Health First Aiders, over 80 people attending weekly peer groups, 25 one-to-one coaching sessions, and menopause and LGBTQ+ support attended by more than 120 people.

It has also enabled wider awareness and training activity across the community, with more than 400 people taking part in funded mental health training and awareness sessions. Everything is delivered by qualified professionals and rooted in real local need, so the impact is not abstract or occasional but regular, practical and close to home.

So when someone buys a Brilliantly Brave card, they are not just choosing a thoughtful product. They are helping sustain a model that turns everyday purchases into ongoing community support, quietly, consistently, and in ways that reach well beyond the sale itself.

Awards and recognition

Brilliantly Brave has been recognised across the greeting card, licensing and small business worlds for both its design-led approach and its purpose-driven model.

In a short space of time, Brilliantly Brave has earned six Henries Award nominations and received recognition through SmallBiz100, f:Entrepreneur, Women’s Enterprise Scotland, the Chamber of Commerce and Scotland’s Trade Awards.

That recognition matters because it reflects more than visibility. It shows that Brilliantly Brave is gaining traction as a commercially credible brand with real creative strength and a model that stands up beyond its own story. For us, it is also a reminder that a business built in Moray can earn national attention while staying closely connected to the community that shaped it.
